Okkatots Travel Diaper Bag Review & Giveaway

As long as I can remember I have been on the go! I'm a hard person to hold down. I like to do lots of traveling. When it was just my husband and I we would just get up one morning and decide it was a good day to drive four hours to the beach or 4 hours to the mountains. It was easy, get our stuff, get in the car, and go. Now that we have a toddler it isn't so easy. Now you have to remember to pack all of your kids things too. Who would have ever thought you needed so much when traveling with kiddos in tow? Well I have traveled with and without the Okkatots Travel Diaper Bag. I can promise you that I will never travel without it again. The Okkatots Travel Diaper Bag has 23 different places to store different items! This makes traveling with your baby so much easier! It is perfect for the small weekend trips to grandma's house and great for those long flights across seas for an even bigger adventure.

One of my favorite features of this diaper bag is the loops on the top. It makes it easy to hang in a closet for easy access to all you need that's stored away in the bag and it makes carrying your bag easy with your stroller. You can see in the picture below how it hands on a closet rod for easy access.

Features:

The Okkatots Travel Diaper Bag has a diaper changing station built into it. There is a place for 16 large disposable diapers, waterproof wipes container, and changing pad. I love the wipes container and the changing pad but being a cloth diapering mom I find that only disposable fit in the diaper dispenser. I would love for my cloth to be in there but they are too thick and it's a hassle getting them in and out. Some cloth diapering moms use disposables while traveling so it may not be a big deal for some.

The insulated pockets in this bag hold several bottles or sippy cups. This is great for keeping juice and or milk cool for longer periods of time.
The clear ventilated pouch holds pacifiers and keeps them dry and clean. It has a strip of velcro that allows it to attach to the top of the inside of the bag. It makes it easy to find and keeps it from falling to the bottom of your bag.
The outside pocket on the front bottom securely holds a DVD player for viewing (see above picture). When not in use it just zips right back up and stores away nicely. (the DVD player is not included in your purchase)
Waterproof pouch that is great for storing dirty and or wet clothing, food, and many others items. This is great for carrying dirty cloth diapers if you don't have a wetbag with you.
Super soft padded shoulder straps that also have a loop for keys or ring toys for your child and a mesh pocket for your cell phone or mp3 player.
There are several pockets and pouches throughout the diaper bag to keep all of your small and important items in a place that is easy to find and store. These are great for keys, credit cards, toys, snacks, papers, DVDs and books.
It opens in two different ways. The first way it opens is live a normal backpack from the top. It also opens like a book giving you complete and easy access to everything in your bag.
The inside is made up of a very durable polyurethane-coated nylon. It is also hand washable.
The beautiful cranberry red is perfect for any caregiver and is great for both male and female users.
This is just the right size to use as your carry-on bag when flying. It measures 19" high, 15.5
" wide, and 8.5" deep.

I absolutely love this bag. It has everything you need to travel with your baby. I do think it's too big to use as an everyday diaper bag but like I said, perfect for traveling. It makes a great bag to use while hiking with your family. You can easily store everything you need for your little one and you and your partner as well. You can easily pack your picnic and snacks for your hike.

Bath Time With Boon

I don't know about other moms but bath time with my son has always made me nervous. I worry about him slipping and falling face first into the water and I worry about him falling and bumping his head on the water faucet. I know the water faucet hurts when you hit it. One day I was taking a shower while my son was playing in the bathtub. I was pressed for time so this was my best option. I bent over to give him a toy and as I was standing back up I hit my bottom really hard on the faucet's corner. My bottom was bruised really good and hurt pretty bad for a couple weeks. I can only imagine how it would feel to hit your head on it. I can see stitches coming out of a bump up like that. Thank goodness for Boon's bath time product called Flo. The Boon Flo is a water deflector and faucet cover in one that also has a bubble bath dispenser in it.
*This only works with the standard water faucet...not the fancy kind.)

As soon as I received this product from Boon I installed it. I was happy to get it and try it out. It was super easy to install. No tools were needed. It just clamps right on. You can do it with one hand in a matter of seconds. It has a space left open so you can still turn the shower portion on and off. I love that it is soft around the edges to soften the blow if my son (or me) were to bump into it. It lets the water flow off beautifully. It would be perfect to lay back and wash your hair in. My son refuses to lay back like that in the tub though so we will stick to the cup method for now for washing his hair.

This phthalate and PVC free Boon Flo has a built in bubble bath dispenser. At first I just used an all natural soap that was a little thicker than most bubble baths expecting it to work the same. It was very slow to come out and it just seemed quicker to pour it directly in the water. So I rinsed that out because it was more of a headache than anything. I added regular Johnson & Johnson's Baby Shampoo to it and it worked perfectly. No waiting or fussing with it. To be honest though, it's not something that I really use. I rarely put bubbles in my son's bath water and if I were going to I would still just pour it in and swish it around with my hand. Maybe when he gets older he will like the bubble bath dispenser himself and maybe he will want to use it while we run bath water.

The one draw back to this product is that it collects moisture in the cracks and it's hard to clean in those areas. What happens in those spaces is mildew grows. I think it's gross and I think it's too time consuming to pull out a Q-Tip every time I clean the shower to clean out the small spaces on the Flo.

I would totally recommend this product, mainly for it's safety feature of protecting your little one from accidents in the tub. It is recommended for all ages. You can buy this product for $17.99.

Boba Baby Carrier Review

Babywearing is something I have enjoyed doing since my son was a newborn. I love the closeness and the bonding that wearing your baby gives you. Wearing your baby in the early months it's OK to use wraps and slings but I have found that once your baby gets bigger you need something with a little more support. That is why I love soft structured baby carriers (SSC). Boba graciously sent me one of their Boba Classic carriers to review. At first I thought it would be like any other SSC that I have used. While the Boba carrier is very similar to most other SSC it does have unique features that sets it apart from the others.

For starters lets talk about the sleep hood on this carrier. The first thing that caught my eye about the sleeping hood is the fact that it's completely removable. It snaps on and off much like the modern style cloth diapers do. I love this because sometimes I think sleeping hoods add extra bulk that isn't needed. I love the fact that you don't have to have it attached. I normally know when my son is going to sleep and when he isn't. If I feel like I am going to be wearing my son during his nap time I will leave the hood on or if we are going to be out in the bright sun or in the rain I will leave it attached. I frankly just like the fact that I have options.

Now the first thing over all that I noticed about the carrier were the footstraps. I looked at in and wondered what the heck was hanging off of it. I had to look at the papers that came with it to know exactly what they were. No other SSC I have used has ever had these. I think it is a good idea in general but my son only tries to use them to assist him in "jumping". It just makes babywearing uncomfortable for me because my son uses it as a "toy". Now if my son would just relax with his feet in these straps I'm sure I wouldn't even know they were there and they would likely be comfortable for him. Again this is another removable part of the carrier. I just prefer not to use these.

The panel, straps, and batting are made with 100% cotton. This carrier is very comfortable to wear and is adjustable to fit most sizes. My husband too can wear this baby carrier with plenty of room to spare. The only thing I feel is missing from this carrier is some sort of pocket. It would be nice to have a place to put a little cash, credit cards and or keys. I think carrying a purse is difficult while using a soft structured baby carrier because the straps get in the way of your purse straps. So a pocket would be a great addition.

Since I became a mommy to Noah I have tried my best to live as natural as possible. I have also learned about harmful chemicals in our everyday products. Now, I am always searching for the best products and products that are not only safe for my son but safe for my whole family. I try to stay away from BPA's and other harmful chemicals when buying products that I need. Rubbermaid has come out with a very versatile food storage product that suits a great need in our family. OK so keeping my family healthy is a major issue but also being a mom and a wife means I have extremely busy days. One day I had totally forgot about the glass containers being down in the cabinet he was playing in until I heard the glass hit our hard tile floor. I hurried over there because I was scared it may have chipped or broke. I didn't want my son to cut his hand or foot on a piece of glass. Much to my surprise there was not even a chip in the glass. These are definitely tough and have taken a beating thanks to my son.

The Worlds Best Paci Clip (Review/Giveaway)

If you are one of those lucky moms who's child doesn't use a paci you are golden! Unfortunately, I'm not one of those moms and my son loves his binki. In order to help my son (and myself) keep up with his binki I have used paci clips from day one. I have tried several brands and every new one I get disappoints me. They are usually made with cheap plastic that breaks with use. Heck I have had some break the same day I bought them. Not only would they break but they would just simplily fall off my son's shirt for no reason. I eventually go so frustrated that I stopped buying them. I was ready to try to take his binki away. I failed at that big time! He was a screaming crying mess. So I caved and gave him his pacifier back. I refused to waste anymore money and cheaply made paci clips. I always made sure to carry 3-4 bibkis with me when we went out. Once my son dropped what I had brought he didn't get anymore until we got home and I washed and sanitized them. I hated it for him but the thought of putting germ filled pacis back in my son's mouth made my stomach turn.

A little while later the makers of the worlds best paci clip, Paci-Catchers contacted me to review their product. I agreed thinking in the back of my mind that I would hate these clips as well. As soon as they arrived in the mail I opened the package to find them neatly placed. When I pulled them out I noticed 2 things that really caught my eye. I noticed the inside of the clip portion. There was a rubber like material that would be great at keeping the Paci-Catcher from falling off my son's clothing. I also noticed the snap that held the paci onto the ribbon. I knew that would wear out as fast as velcro would. I also received a MAM adapter with my Paci-Catchers as well as a sippy cup holder adapter. I was glad to get the MAM adapter because MAM pacifiers are my son's favorite. You can't find pacifier holders to hold MAM pacifiers other than the MAM brand (not my #1 choice). Before I even started using these Paci-Catchers I was in love. They were super cute and and had fun prints and colors.

How awesome is this? I have been given the Versatile Blogger Award by another mommy blogger. I have to say this just made my morning. Well this and the fact that my son actually slept last night! So a well rested mama and a beautiful compliment makes for the perfect day. So a big thanks again to Wee Fluffy Bums. If you haven't already checked out her blog hurry and go do so now!

Getting this award means that I'm agreeing to share some things about myself, and pass on the love to fellow bloggers. Who doesn't love to talk about themselves? haha Plus I love shout outs and this gives me the perfect reason to do some today.

A few things about me that you wouldn't know from my usual blogging:

I drink a pot of coffee a day. I put the pot on as soon as I wake up and start my first cup while I feed Noah his breakfast. Then I drink a cup back to back until the pot is empty. It usually only takes 2 hours to finish embarrassingly enough. Then I can tackle anything the day throws at me. Thank your Folgers!
I grew up in a small country town with one caution light and tons of soy bean, corn, and wheat fields. I was a tomboy and loved fishing, climbing trees and playing in the dirt. I would still climb trees today if I wasn't afraid I'd fall and break a bone. I don't think my body can handle that kind of stuff anymore.
I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. Yep, sounds crazy huh? One my honeymoon we went to Miami Skydiving Center and I took a tandem jump. It was loads of fun and I'm so glad I got to mark that off my bucket list. I'd love to do it again but now that I'm a mommy I have to look at the risk and I can risk something happening to me and leaving my son and husband behind.
I'm a carbaholic! Mashed potato sandwiches anyone? Anything with crabs it what I want. I love all breads, potatoes no matter how they are cooked, cakes and cookies. YUM I've been that way my whole life. It wasn't until I got pregnant that all the carbs started to catch up with me.
I like to sew even though I'm not really good at it...yet. I plan to take a sewing class soon to try to improve my very beginner skills.
Even though I worked as a Medication Technician for 8 years before having Noah I hate to take medication myself. I will go to bed with a splitting headache before I take something to ease it. Really I have to be on the verge of a migraine before I will even take Tylenol. I don't know why I'm like that because I have nothing against medication when a person needs it.
When I was a little girl I wanted to be a neurosurgeon. My dad was in a car accident when I was six and broke his neck. He has been a quadriplegic ever since. I thought when I was little if I became a neurosurgeon that I could fix him.

Bububibi Bamboo Diaper Review & Giveaway

Bububibi Bamboo Original diapers are a great bang for your buck! Jack Be Natural just started carrying these affordable cloth diapers in their online store. At only $10.25 a diaper you are getting a steal of a deal. I have been using this diaper for quite a while and I just love how it fits not to mention the bright vibrant color. However the red did bleed just a bit onto one of my inserts once but you would never know now by looking at either the insert or the diaper. Since this diaper is a natural fiber bamboo diaper you need to prep it a little different than your synthetic diapers. You need to wash these 3 times separate from your other diapers to get the natural oils off and then you can wash your bamboo diapers with your regular diaper laundry. One thing to take note of when using bamboo is that it takes 8-10 washes (and dries) before the diaper reaches it's max absorbency. I love natural fiber diapers because they do absorb so much more. They are also great for those who are allergic to synthetic diapers as well as for those toddlers who are potty training. Since bamboo is not a stay dry material it helps potty training toddlers feel wet when they need to. If you don't want to have your child feel wet you can always put a stay dry liner in your cloth diaper to wick away the moisture. Jack Be Natural has a couple different options to chose from, my favorite is Imse Vimse.

The Bububibi Original Solids diaper was sent to me to review by Jack Be natural. This cloth diaper is great because it can be used as an All-In-Two system OR as a pocket diaper. If you decide to use it as a pocket you don't even have to unstuff it. That makes it even more convenient. I love how this fits my 13 month old son. He has a super tiny waist and wears the waist crossed over. I'm not sure this diaper would have fit him the first 4-5 months (maybe a little more) of his life though in the waist. My son's waist is smaller than most babies though. He actually wears 99% of all his diapers at the tightest waist settings. Now I like to use this diaper in both the All-In-Two and the pocket setting. I don't really prefer one way over the other because they are both just as easy. The only thing about the AI2 is that if your baby is a very heavy wetter and completely saturates the bamboo inserts and liner then you will need to wash and shouldn't reuse. Also if you are using it as an AI2 and your baby gets stool on the cover, again you will want to wash it. If you baby tends to have more solid stools you won't likely have that problem. I'm not sure how well an exclusively breastfed baby's stool would hold up in this diaper. I assume it would do well because the legs have a nice snug fit and my son has had a few teething stools in this diaper with no leaks.

CC Bums Review

I like to think of myself as a cloth diaper connoisseur, or addict which ever you prefer. I am definitely not a cloth diaper snob by any means. I like all kinds, pockets, all-in-ones, natural fibers, synthetic fibers, tongue style, all-in-two and so many more. All of the different styles of cloth diapers have their pros and cons. There are things I like and dislike about all diapers.

I was recently sent a couple items by CC Bums to try out and review. I received a one size bib as well as a cloth diaper. This cloth diaper though was one unlike any I have seen before. This diaper is an all-in-one fleece diaper. Now this diaper is soft and makes you want to cuddle your little one while he or she is wearing it. This diaper is a little different from your average all-in-one diapers as it does not have a PUL waterproof cover sewn in. This diapers waterproof outer is the fleece itself. Fleece is a great material for covering your cloth diapers. If you have ever used fleece covers you know what I am talking about. I personally like to use fleece covers at night time. Also if you have used fleece covers before you also likely know that you can easily get compression leaks with them. That is the one thing you need to be careful with. The same goes for this diaper. This diaper works great but it can leak due to compression just like any fleece cover/diaper combo can. Because of that I don't recommend this diaper as one to use on long car rides or one for going out in public. When I am out of the house I want to know that with out a shadow of a doubt I will have zero leaks. I do love this diaper for use around the house because it's easy on and easy off and there is no stuffing and unstuff required. It's cute and super soft and great for snuggle time. The diaper is fairly absorbent but I would encourage you to change it at least every 2 hours and in my experience it doesn't hold much past the 2 hour mark. I think it's a good rule of thumb to change your child every two hours anyways. I have tried the CC Cums Fleece All-in-one diaper for night time use as well but not with much luck. This diaper does not have encased elastic and the inner absorbent layer of cotton rolls out and wicks on to my son's bed sheets. However, now CC Bums is encasing their elastic so this will no longer be an issue. Please know that the encased elastic is a custom order and they do not come stocked as encased. OK, back to the diaper. I have used diaper covers over this diaper for outings to prevent the inner fabric from rolling out and wicking onto my son's clothing. This combo created a great system for me. I do like this diaper for how cute it is and for how soft it is. I am happy to hear that CC Bums is encasing elastic now as I think it makes their diapers that much better. CC Bums' diaper prices vary so be sure to check out their shop for details on pricing.

I also was given a one size bib to try out and review. I must say that I am in love with this CC Bums bib. There are snap adjustments on the neck to adjust to your growing child. There is also snap adjustments on the main part of the bib. This allows you to adjust the length of the bib. My son is 13 months old and I like to keep the bib on the shortest length so that the pocket the bib creates catches any food that he may drop from his mouth while eating. It is made up of terry and flannel so it is absorbent as well. If your child spills too much liquid on this bib they may get their clothing wet too. I would love to see an inner hidden layer of PUL in this bib to protect your child's clothing even more. I would really like to have a whole bunch of these bibs. One thing that bothers me about bibs you buy in the store is that they all close with some type of velcro and when you wash your cloths and bibs you end up with a train of bibs attached to everything. With the CC Bums bibs you don't have to worry about that because they have snap closures.

Does your child want to be picked up and then put down as soon as you pick him up? It can get tiresome I know. I'm a baby wearing mom and some times as soon as I get my son in the carrier he is fussing to get out. It comes in 2 sizes, infant (up to 22lbs) and toddler (22lbs to 40lbs). It also helps to straighten your spine while your child is in tow. This baby Hip Hugger looks like a fanny pack you see tourist using during their travels. It has a heart on the seat which is made from a none slip material to keep your child from shifting on the Baby Hip Hugger while in use. The Hip Hugger comes with a generous size zipper pocket on the front so you can easily put a wallet, and credit cards in there while out and about. On the band of this Hip Hugger is a net pocket perfect for storing a bottle or snacks. Inside the band you will find a convenient set of pockets for store things such as phones, money and keys. If you need more storage for things such as diapers or small toys you can get an attachment pouch to use on the side of your Baby Hip Hugger (see pics below). The firm part that your baby sits on is a very firm piece of Styrofoam topped with soft piece of cushion foam for the comfort of your baby. This support is easily removed so your Baby Hip Hugger can be cleaned.

Baby Nari's Hip Hugger is perfect for around the house, malls, theme parks, airports, zoos and more! It's easy on and easy off. It attaches with strong Velcro and then as extra security is fastened with a buckle. It take way less time to get this on than standard baby carriers. You want to make sure you wear this above your hips and as tight as possible. The more often you wear the Baby Hip Hugger the more it conforms to your body and the more comfortable it becomes to use. I have used this a ton since I received it. The thing I like it for the most is going to the mailbox to pick up my daily mail. My son wants to be with me 24/7 and carrying him to the mailbox can be a task if there is a lot to carry back in. With the Baby Hip Hugger I can still have one hand completely free as well as use my other hand as my arm is still wrapped around my son. It makes getting the mail so much easier. My husband is in love with this product. He's not much of a baby wearer but loves to hold our son. His arms get sore after a while just like any one's would. I showed him this product when I got it and he was really excited. I have never seen him get excited about any kind of baby gear until now. My husband wears this well but he is almost too big for it. Please know when you get ready to purchase your own Baby Hip Hugger that the waist size limit is 40 inches.

My son is 13 months old, 25 pounds and 32 inches long. He's a big boy by all means. From using this product and just by the the structure of how it's made I think using this for a newborn would be great too. Not in the sense of carrying your child in a sitting position of course but in the way of extra support for holding your baby and for breastfeeding. I know when I was breastfeeding my child my arms would hurt and pillows would shift out of the way and then my son would lose it latch. It was a never ending battle. When you are breastfeeding position is one of the most important factors to getting and keeping a good latch. The Baby Hip Hugger when worn on your waist in a sitting position is in the perfect place for supporting your arm and or your baby while breastfeeding in the early months. So this Hip Hugger is definitely multi-functional in my opinion. (This statement hasn't been tested by me and is only a genuine conclusion.)

I'm not much of a hot tea drinker. I'm more of a cold sweet tea drink kinda gal. Last time I drank any kind of hot tea was while I was breastfeeding. Now if that wasn't enough, get a load of this. Not only does SafetyTat make temporary Child IC tattoos but they also make temporary tattoos for those suffering with Alzheimer's, dementia, or aphasia. How great is that? I know the importance of having people suffering with those mental illnesses wear some sort of ID band that can't be easily removed. It is easily removed but someone suffering with the above disorders it may be a more difficult task. I worked in a nursing home for eight years and it was hard even with a locked and secure Alzhimers unit to keep them in at times. I have even seen them get out of the building and find their way to the street. Scary, I know! So what better way to protect your older loved ones?

I received my package of Original SafetyTat temporary safety ID tattoos just in time for our beach vacation. My husband, son and I went to the beach with my brother and his family. I had to apply a new one that was actually readable. My nephews SafetyTats stayed on for four days without any sign of wear. I think the oils in my son's all natural sunscreen helped to breakdown the SafetyTat and since the sunscreen my nephews were using had NO oils in it I think theirs lasted longer. So just an FYI for you, if you are going to be putting oils onto your child's skin after applying the SafetyTat keep a check on the SafetyTat to see that it's still legible.

This is a great invention and I truly think every parent should have some of these on hand for those "just in case" moments. A Year In The Rearview

It's hard to believe it's been a year. On June 30, 2011 my son, Noah, had his first birthday. My little baby boy isn't so little anymore. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was talking about trying to conceive another little bundle. I have always heard other parents talk about how fast babies grow up but I never truly understood it. Sure, I knew they were getting older, that's what we all do, right? So how do they do it any faster? Trust me...THEY DO!

Looking back over the year I have found that I have some amazing memories. The very first being the day I found out I was pregnant again for the THIRD time! I had actually thought I was out of the race. I was cramping and had zero pregnancy symptoms. I had been testing since I was eight days past ovulation (8dpo). Every home pregnancy test I took was a big fat negative (BFN). I was getting more and more discouraged by the day. Finally on the day my cycle was due to start I took another late at night. As soon as my urine swept across the window on the pregnancy test stick I chucked it in the garbage as I seen no hint of any second line. Like I usually do I went back and pulled my pregnancy test out of the garbage and held it up to the light looking for any kind of faint sign that I could possibly be pregnant. I was shocked when I noticed what was a very faint line. It was so faint that I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. My brothers were over watching the cage fight with my husband. Excited, I ran to the living room to pass around my urine soaked pee stick! Sure enough everyone else seen the line too. I couldn't sleep that night so I got up at 3am and took another test. This time instead of taking a cheapie from the Dollar Tree I pulled out the big boys! Yep, the FRER (First Response Early Results). It was dark in our room and I didn't want to wake my husband so I hurried to the living room to check the results. It didn't take long before I was seeing double, lines that is. It's was confirmed, I was pregnant again for the third time! I was so happy but very nervous!

By the next morning I was ready to start taking weekly belly pics to document the growth of my newest "little bean". I could believe how fast my belly actually grew. I got much bigger this time around. Although for the first time I had a healthy baby that was growing AHEAD of schedule.

This picture was of me when I was 28 weeks along.

And this was the very last picture I had made while I was on bed rest in the hospital for a bleeding complete placenta previa.

I had a fairly easy pregnancy other than the complete placenta previa. Although thankfully it didn't give me a problem until I was 33 weeks along. I remember the night I started to bleed. I had no idea I was actually bleeding while I was. I was sitting on the foot of our bed with the laptop in my lap looking through a mommy forum I use to frequent. I was talking about how I had finally got my son's car seat installed that day. Thinking back I think I had done to much that day. While I was sitting there typing away I felt damp "down there". That wasn't unusual though as pregnancy tended to make me sweat more in that area for some reason. I just ignored the damp feeling and went about my business. I decided to finally lay down as my back was starting to hurt. I went to potty before I went to sleep for the night and noticed all of the blood. We quickly called 911 and I was rushed on to the hospital where I remained for almost 3 weeks on bed rest. I never made it home before delivering our son at 35 weeks 6 days.

He was a preemie but you would never know by his birth weight. He was a whopping 6lbs 6oz and 21 inches long. He was big for a 35 weeker but his little lungs were not ready for this big ole world. He was taken to this neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and was put on bubble CPAP to help aid in his breathing. The very next morning one of the NICU doctors come to tell me that one of his lungs had collapsed. He was then put on the ventilator. All of this was starting to be an all too familiar story. I started to get knots in the pit of my stomach from worry. It was a long 2 weeks but yet a short 2 week stay he had to endure in the NICU. He was finally about to come home on July 14, 2011. He was still home 2 weeks before he was even due.

I couldn't believe it when it was time for him to come home. We had already had 2 baby girls before Noah but neither which made it to our home. I was so nervous and scared. I remember thinking to myself, "What if I lose him?" He was so small when he came home (6lbs 7oz) that I seriously thought I may lose him. I know how silly that sounds now but it was a honest fear that I had. It was so surreal having him home. There was a sense of peace in our home. I knew everything would be OK then.

I remember days when he was small enough to lay on my chest. This is something I miss dearly!

After several minutes trying to get Noah to smile I gave up. So I wanted to take one last pic before putting my camera away. Much to my surprise he cracked the biggest grin mid-flash and I just knew I was going to capture that one! This picture still sits on my husbands desk at work.

I was giving Noah his first ever infant massage in this picture. I was excited to find a new way to bond with my baby. Noah was behind all of his peers and still wasn't lifting his head. I turned Noah over to massage his back and sure enough he started to life his head. I yelled to my husband to grab the camera as my hands were covered in olive oil.

Sure enough by time Christmas rolled around my biggest fear had come true. My baby was sick. I'm not talking a runny nose sick. I'm talking can't breathe sick. We rushed him to this hospital where was admitted.

I'll never forget that hospital stay. It was a nightmare. I could believe my little boy was sick enough to be back in the hospital. He couldn't breathe and every time he took a breath his chest caved in what seemed to his back bone almost. You know, there is nothing more scary than watching your child struggle to take every single breath. He was on several floors during that three week stay. From the 1st floor in the emergency room, to the 5th floor which was observation, then on to the 9th floor which was the baby/toddler floor. Soon he was put in the PICU when they notice through a bronchcosopy that he was only breathing through 10% of his airway. After several procedures he was finally back on the progressive floor and soon back home. We were still not out of the wood yet but still did not know what was ahead of us. We didn't know what his future looked like. They were doing a lot of talking about giving him a tracheostomy.

The steroids in the hospital made his cheeks get really chubby!

After being home for 2 months Noah kept getting worse. Nothing we were doing was making anything better. He ended up having to have surgery to correct his airway. He had a procedure done called a Cricoid Split. You can see where the did the surgery there on his neck.

I felt like a horrible mother putting my son through such an invasive surgery. It was however something that he needed. He had a deformed circoid cartilage and his breathing would have only got worse. That still didn't change the fact that I felt horrible.

It wasn't long after he came home from his procedure that he started to pick up. He started hitting milestones like the rest of his peers. He started to crawl, and cruise along the furniture. He started to babble. His first word was MAMA! My heart melted when he said it for the first time. Now he says and KNOWS who Mama is. He calls for me all the time. Poor Daddy is still waiting for him to call out his name. Now he is so busy it's hard to keep up with him.

Noah went on his first beach trip a few weeks ago. His reaction to the open beach was priceless. He started crawling and then looked up in amazement that he could crawl without any boundaries. He crawled full speed ahead towards the ocean. I finally turned him around and got him back to our chairs. He started playing with the sand, digging his hands in and squishing it between his fingers. He was turning his hands in all angles inspecting them trying to determine what this substance on his hands was. I guess the best way to tell what it was was a taste test. I quickly grabbed his hand as he made a funny confused face as the sand brushed against his lips and tongue. We didn't get to stay as long as I had hoped for but it was still nice.

So here we are one year later. The year has really flown by. Now I understand what other parents were talking about. If you blink you will miss it. I have had the privilege of being a stay at home mom. I'm lucky that I haven't missed any of the "first". The first smile, first giggle, watching him roll over for the first time, saying his first words, seeing him crawl for the first time and so many other first that I will forever cherish and so many more to come. So we got off with a rough start but we are ending with a bang!

As soon as I think I have this mom things down pat, he shows me different! Gotta love it!

This diaper has been a great diaper for us. It's trim fit and super absorbency has made it a great night time diaper as well as a great everyday diaper. Although it states that the medium setting fits babies from 10-18lbs I have found the medium setting to fit my 24lb son the best. I do like to add in the doubler at night and cover with a wool cover. I have found that to work the best. The elastic in this diaper is gentle yet very effective at holding in those messy poops.

Banana Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Yesterday I went grocery shopping. While I was standing there in the produce section I noticed several large bags full of bananas. You couldn't beat the price at $1.49. There had to have been 15-20 bananas in each bag. So I quickly scooped up a bag and put it in my buggy. I walked through the store not even thinking about the bananas. Once I got home and unloaded the groceries I started wo wonder what in the world I was gonna do with so many bananas. There was no way my son could eat that many before they went bad. There was a recipe on the bag on how to make banana nut bread but I knew that I will still have way too many extra bananas left over. So I quickly started looking online to find out what I could do with so many bananas. I found this Banana Oatmeal Cookie Recipe on Allrecipes.com. It looked and sounds yummy. Bas thing was, I didn't have hardly ANY of the ingredients, well, except for bananas! So again, I had to go back to the store and buy everything to make these cookies. I muust say, it was WELL worth my trip. These cookies mealt in your mouth and have you going back for seconds, thirds, fourths.... Yeah I blew my diet today! Ingredients

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup mashed ripe banana
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together shortening and brown sugar. Beat in egg and mashed banana, then stir in vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves; stir into the banana mixture. Mix in rolled oats and walnuts. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets. Leave room for spreading.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

What eye problems can UV rays cause?

Over time, the effects of UV rays may help cause a number of eye problems.

1. Macular Degeneration

UV rays may lead to macular degeneration, a leading cause of vision loss for older Americans.

2. Cataract

UV rays, especially UV-B rays, may also cause some kinds of cataracts. A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, the part of the eye that focuses the light we see.

3. Pterygium

Mandy & Randy Naturally Imagined Toys Review

I have recently been given the opportunity to check out Mandy & Randy Naturally Imagined Toys. These toys have been great. My son absolutely loves them. They are the first of all his toys that he reaches for. The Peace Of Wood is a great rattler and teething toy for babies of all ages. It has a nice soft gentle rattle and is the perfect size for small little fingers and hands to hold onto. Stanley The Stegosaurus is the most beautiful handcrafted toy I have ever seen. It is an amazing design that shows a lot of detail. My son has definitely been rough with this one. You couldn't tell by looking at it though. It still looks brand new! Allen The Spinning Alien is super cute and it is fun to watch my son fill with excitement as it moves along the floor. He quickly tries to catch it and make it spin on his own. These toys are super easy to clean. You just use a soft bristle tooth brush with a little vinegar water and then wipe clean with a damp wash cloth. You can refinish your toys with any food grade oil but they recommend Looking Glass Beeswax Polish made by Earthpaint.

I love the fact that Mandy & Randy make 100% all natural toys that are safe for our children. The handcrafted toys beat anything you could buy in the store as well as any machine generated toy you could buy. The family works together on all aspects of toy making, right down to spending late nights sanding away at their prized possession.

The Easy Fit cloth diaper by Tots Bots (distributed by Bummis) is the perfect diaper. It's super easy to use. There is no unstuffing a dirty diapaer with this tounge style all-in-one diaper. This is perfect for daycare, dads, grandparents and sitters. This aplix closures allows the diaper to go on and come off just like a disposable. The insert comes right out in the wash. It's is still attached to the diaper so there is no mixing up inserts. You always have the right insert for the right diaper. It cleans well and dries super fast. With the poack you are able to add in extra absorbency if needed. Although, I never needed to add in anything extra with this diaper.

Chewbeads is the perfect mom and baby product. I wish I would have heard about this so much sooner. This is nice fashion for mom and the perfect teether for baby. You child can easily get this to the hard to reach gums in the back. You don't get that with your normal everyday teethers. Not to mention that it's 100% toxin free, no BPA, PVC, phthalates, heavy metals, cadmium, or lead! These are perfectly safe for your little ones.

My son loves this necklace. It helps to keep him from pulling on my clothing. This necklace has for sure prevented many embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions out in public! I love the fact that the beads will not break loose and that it has a break away clasp in the back. My son goes quite crazy with the Chewbeads from time to time and the break away clasp has definatley been useful!

I have recently had the opportunity to try out a shopping cart cover by JJ Cole Collections. The cart covers come in great stylish prints. It's super easy to use and the elastic in the cart cover allows for a great fit every time. It also doubles as a highchair cover for when you are going out to eat. I do not charge for reviews nor have I ever been paid to do a review. I do reviews on comerical products as well as products made by Work At Home Mom (WAHM) businesses. This is free advertising for the products that I review and that's great for companies and their customers. Free advertisinig means LOWER PRICES on the products that you LOVE! I have been putting put my reviews on my YouTube channel where I have nearly 1,000 subscribers. I have new subscribers daily. I will continue to post my video reviews on YouTube as well. Once they are posted there they will be directly transfered here on teh Video Products Review Blog.
